A Pharmacy Technician’s main responsibility is to assist licensed pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription medications to patients. Pharmacy Technicians must ensure the accuracy and completeness of prescription orders, including counting, measuring, and packaging medications according to established procedures. They manage the inventory of the pharmacy, ordering and stocking medications and supplies. Communication with patients and healthcare providers to gather the necessary information to process prescription orders and provide medication counseling is a crucial aspect of their job. Additionally, they perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, maintaining patient records, and scheduling appointments, while adhering to safety and regulatory standards to maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment.

The increasing demand for prescription medications, an aging population, and advances in pharmaceutical research and development are expected to contribute to the growth of this profession.
